FRIDAY FINDS Vol. 1

FRIDAY FINDS

Volume 1

Happy Friday. I’m excited to debut my Friday Finds series, where I share the great furniture and decor that I come across while sourcing for my clients.

One of the parts of my job that I love the most is shopping for other people. In searching, it’s natural that I come across a lot of great buys that, for many reasons, aren’t a good fit for any of my active projects. In the back of my head is a little voice going, someone has to buy this! Usually that someone is me, but I’ve run out of room at my storage unit. Le sigh. Now when I hear that whisper, I add it to the list of finds.

If you end up buying something on this list please let me know. The only thing better than connecting a cool piece to a good home, is helping to complete the ring on a sustainable purchase. It would seriously make my day <3. Here are this weeks finds w/ links:

FRIDAY FINDS, JUNE 28, 2024

Serpentine Sofa, Chairish

With the popularity of De Sede’s Non-Stop Sofa in recent years, prices have risen accordingly, surpassing $2,000 per 10” section. So it’s refreshing to stumble on a really large serpentine sofa for under $6,000. More feminine than the DS600, but that doesn’t bother me one bit. Could be configured into multiple loveseats, two wavy sofas, or one mega-couch. Ships from Decatur, GA for $699.

Laminated Coffee Table, Chairish

Good coffee tables are hard for me to come by, as they represent an area that I’m relentlessly picky about. You could say I like my coffee tables like I like my men: I’ve only ever found one that I really love. But this laminated coffee table checks a lot of boxes for me: creamy dreamy color, mod, chunky, not too small at 38” square. This will look very nice with lots of books piled on top. The price is attractive too, considering that similar tables go for 3x as much. Ships from Shoreview, MN for $349.

Man Ray Lithograph of Jacqueline, Etsy

Black and white art is a staple in my wheelhouse. Old magazines are a good source. This original print torn from a book is feminine and sensual. Also came across a larger 23x31 print by Edward Hartwig, which would look good framed or unframed.

Japandi Chair Set, 1st Dibs

A little heartbreaker of a trio - two linen safari-style seats and a table. I love when something this casual also manages to look like high art, I could picture this just as easily in a museum, as I could in my mother’s living room. It’s Japandi by way of a German designer, so it’s got that Neutra thing going on. No pretense in its presence or its price.

Braun Coffee Pot by Dieter Rams, eBay

I love coffee. I have several makers in my house including a drip machine, two french press, a stovetop percolator, an espresso machine, and the Chemex glass pour-over. So when I learned about the Moccamaster, a handsome retro drip machine, it had me schemin’ for a reason. Our new offices in downtown Columbus offered the excuse to splurge, and so I did. While the Moccamaster is beautiful, I was surprised to discover that it comes as a dozen plastic parts, which tenuously lock into place, so that assembling one is akin to setting up a new round of Hasbro’s Mousetrap. If I had to do it all over again, I would have put two and two together and searched for a vintage coffee pot instead. Those things are tanks, and they are from a time when everyday objects were designed to look interesting. The Braun is fun, but if you’re the only one drinking coffee in the house, this mini vintage Krups pot, with it’s pop of orange, is more funner.

1970’s Italian Dining Chairs, Set of 6, Chairish

DIYers, rejoice! This scarpa-esque set is the perfect kind of interesting to pair with a basic dining table. Yes, they are both green AND orange. But that can be overcome with some new upholstery and paint. I’d go for a monochrome look in an oxblood red, using this fabric and this paint color. Just a heads up that the shipping is more than the cost of the chairs, since they’re coming from Torino, IT.

If you like these, but you’d prefer not to get into a project, this set of 4 is super gorgeous, and about $940/chair with shipping.

Capri Vintage Tourist Pocket Photos, Etsy

These little bitty tourist photos would be cool unspooled on a wall as part of a collage, or as a surprise-and-delight moment in a bowl of matchbooks on a coffee table.

Spun Fiberglass Table Lamps (2), Lessons of Things

Lamps that look just as good on as they do off are worth the purchase, every-time. These would look sharp at opposite ends of a sofa table, flanking an entryway, or inside cubbies of a bookshelf. Delivery available, or local pickup in Columbus, OH from LDI favorite Lessons of Things.

Sculptural Mixed-Metal Chair, Life of Leisure

Kill two birds with one stone by getting a completely functional chair that doubles as a piece of art. Amalfi Coast girlies run don’t walk, it’s got silver swirly whirlies AND fish details in the design. This belongs on a rooftop patio, or at a cafe in a grotto, full stop. Buy via Grandview Mercantile in Columbus, OH, shipping quotes available on request at their site.

Sun Embossed Vintage Print, Etsy

Speaking of the Mediterranean, this embossed gold and cream celestial sun print would warm up any mantle or gallery wall. I found a few of these while browsing, so if this one is sold out you might be able to find another.

Vjeranski on Tumblr

This isn’t vintage furniture or decor, it’s not even something you can buy (I have trouble following all the rules all the time, apparently even my own). It’s a Tumblr account of really beautiful, calming imagery to inspire ideas, art, or just give your brain a break from more intellectual inputs. Happy scrolling.

Thanks for reading! See you next week.

P.S. if you have a request for a specific thing you are looking for, let me know and I’ll be sure to keep my extra third eye out for Friday Finds <3.
